Default Dual battery time!

So I been reading a lot old post on doing a dual battery set up. Reason why I am thinking of doing this setup is dependability. I have some aftermarket accessories on my trunk, seven off-road lights, aftermarket stereo, a bad *** amp with power cap and subwoofer, k40 360 radar detector's and laser jammer's front and back of the truck. plus some other small stuff like gps and phones. And I will be putting a winch on it before it's over. Was wondering if anyone's ever used a blue top and yellow top together. Would this be okay? I like the fact that the blue top has the 5/16 studs so I would make this one my secondary and the yellow top my primary. Or should I just go two blue tops?

I agree, use the same batterys. I run dual Yellow Tops with not switching and they have been great, actually on my second set in nearly 11 years.
Are you planning to run a switching system, if you want to be talked out of this, send me your number and lets talk.
How are you planning to mount your second battery?
You can always use the side terminals for extra connections.

don't think the pm 1 will fit so I'll have to use the pm 2 for dual set up

They are made by Odyssey and are great batterys. How are you going to mount them and will you be using a switch set up?

Neither. Use good quality batteries, not Optimas.

Make sure the batteries are not only the same type/size but the same age too. Ive seen alot of people on the diesel forums thats switch out just 1 of thier batteries to save money and end up having to replace both at the same time a few months later. so if you already have a good battery in there and want to go dual, buy two new batteries and save taht good one you have as an emergency backup in the trunk to jump off of or as a portable power station for tools

use two DH plat 34m's. and i wouldn't run them in parallel like Mike said. If you have a drain of any sort you will lose both batteries and have nothing to start your truck....

Yes, that can happen. In the 9 or 10 years mine has been wired that way, never had a problem, save a bunch of money on a switching system and was able to dump a lot of amps to the winch if and when needed.
