Ford uses the 5w-20 in everything except diesels, including the V8, I think the Cobra and GT use something different but not sure.
My mom's Escape calls for the 5w-20, I use Rotella 5w-40 in it, it is quieter.

I personally dont believe in engine flushes unless you are a problem.
I don't doubt it in today's race for the highest mpg. And the only engine I ever flushed was the Disco, so I agree. It was the oldest and highest mileage vehicle I ever had, so really had no idea on what was used or done. She needed a bit of cleaning. The rest of my rigs I had from new or newer, and I'm **** on oil changes, fuel, etc.

So am I.

My mom has had her Escape since new, it is a '08, 90k on it now, dealer serviced until she got divorced and moved into our basement.
Ford had the oil change monitor set to 7500miles, I changed it to 5,000.
It is amazing what corners they cut to save a few pounds, electric power steering, plastic valve covers, plastic intake manifold, plastic throttle body and butterfly valve.
I dont like it at all, it is very noisey going down the road, the engine is as noisey as some of these guys Rovers.
