Default engine hesitates on exceleration

engine hesitates on exceleration and randomly misfires or bucks. The code reads PO102 MAF OR VAF CIRCUIT LOW INPUT. I put a new maf 5000 miles ago and took out the K&N filter. Any ideas out there.

What year model is it?

It sounds like your MAF is dead.

If you just removed theK&N air filter today after this started then I would say that it is your MAF again.
And we do need more info like Switzer said.

It's a '97 disco with the V8. Has 85000 miles. Did put a new MAF and changed the K&N air filter around 5000 miles ago. The codes where different then they where P1172 and P1179. I did change the MAF then, but only after your good advice of removing the K&N did the check engine light stay out. I kept the old MAF on the shelf. Just like any farmer like myself would. Do you think the original might still be good? No harm in trying is there! I must admit You guys sure do know these machines. I thank you for all the info you give.

Have the code reset and put the old MAF back in and see what happens.
Did you buy a brand new MAF or a used one?

When you swap the MAF look inside it and check for any debris on the wire elements. Look for anything obvious like exposed wires or loose hardware.

My D1 is currently doing exactly the same and its becoming really annoying, as soon as you push the throttle, she coughs and miss and splutters, yet idles 100% perfect. If you increase the revs slowly, its fine all the way up the rev range.

Wow, same problem 2 different mileage ranges.
We need to get this figured out for future referance.
I have heard oif this before but only aftertrips of 50 miles or more.
How long does the engine need to be running before it acts up?
