Engine suddenly stalls 3.9 '94 Disco
Hello!!!
I have a '94 3.9L Disco, and yesterday it stalledsuddenly. It is a complete stall. As you drive along suddenly you notice the power going and the engine dies. If you try to restart, the engine turns over but does not fire. Leave it for 5 to 10 mins and it starts no problem and drives completely normal.Ten it works for a couple of minutes and it turns off again. It also turns off after pressing hard the gas pedal. Is it common? What could I check?
I have recently bought the car, and changed the oil, oil filter and sparks. Dont know when was changed the fuel filter, but will check it now. I also will check the stop solenoid and its connector. I am using regular gas (88 octane, I think). The odometer is 135000 miles.
The check engine light is off. It stalls clean, (like turning off the key) There is no extrange noises (cough, splutter, or something like that).
What could I check?
Thanks a lot for your help!!

Thanks Mike
I dont know if it is working fine. How could I check it?
I read in one of the posts that if the fuel pump or injection pump are failing, the engine coughs/splutter before stalling, but my car stalls clean, like turning off the ignition key.

Couple of thoughts, start running high octane, after 2 tanks, you will notice an increase in power and MPG.
Next time it stalls, check the pressure at you fuel rail, if it is low to none it will be the relay most likely.

When it stalls can you hear the full pump whine when you
turn the key back on?
It does sound like a fuel pump or fuel starvation problem.
After that do not use cheap gas.
The gas has nothing to do with this problem but will or may
give you more problems later on other things.
