Yesterday I washed my engine compartment with the spray nozzle from my house (not high pressure) and I didn't drive the truck at all. Today pulling my trailer i noticed that it felt like it had no power and was missing at low rpm's when it shifted. I put it in sport mode to kep the rev's up and went on. WhenI got home i hooked up the obd and pulled these codes. 1- P1071, 2-P1074, 3-1172, 4-1175, 5-P1300, 6-P0304, 7-P0300, 8-P0304, 9-P0308, 10-P0306, 11-P0302, 12-P0308, 13-P0306, 14-P0302, 15-P0152. I believe the first four are from my bad MAF. 5-14, i'm guessing the plug wires let water in somewhere, either at the plug or at the coil? and i have no idea what the P0152 is and this is the one that's concerned me a little. Any input on these would be helpful thanks. p.s. my trailer only weighs about 1000 lbs total.

 

P0152 is you front pass O2 sensor- high voltage
The 030* are all misfires.
I would replace all of your pluga and wires if you haven't already. Go with the 8mm Magnacor and a good platinum.

The other codes are lean/rich and Lamda faults. You can check all of those at iequus.com

I wouldn't drive it much till you fix it. You can kill you cats running like that much.

 

You got things wet back by the firewall it needs to dry out.

It may take a few days.

If you don't have time to wait get some dielectric grease
and start pulling the wires off and use the grease to stop the
cross current .

 

The problem with waiting for it to dry out is that i live in FL, with the humidity at about 85-100% all of the time it'll take forever to dry out. I have an'03F-250 that one of the coils got wet on and it just kept sweating inside of the boot from the heat/humidity and it didn't dry out for about 2 months. It got to the point that I couldn't pull my work trailer on the highway, took it to ford (good friend is lead mechanic), he blew the wet coil out w/air and it's been good ever since. The rover is not quite that easy, If i'm going to mess with the coil at all i'm just gonna replace wires, i'm sure the truck needs them. Does anybody else make plug wires for these or just magnacor, andoem? I don't really think i need the 8mm, it'sjust a stock disco, but i'm looking atpossibly puttingsome fog lights on the bumperand roof rack. Any further imput is welcomed. Thanks guys.

 

STI makes wires as well. The reason for the larger wire is to produce a better spark. These run rich and tend to carbon up. A better burn prevents this (or helps, anyway) and gives you better performance to boot. If you are in a pinch, Autozone carries OEM Bosch for about 50 (D1), but with a D2 I would recommend that you use the good one's since they are such a PITA to change. Make sure and change plugs as well. Check with Mike on Magnacor prices, I think he can get them for a lot less than you will find.

Well, the service codes came up 2 more times during that day, and as they came up I cleared them. They now are off and have been off since. No more power loss, codes, or misfires. I am still planning to do a plugs and wires job, so if Mike knows of a good place for magnacor wires please give me a shout.

First of all, it is so unusual for a D2 to not take a washing, heck, I power scrub my engine one or more times a month depending on how many trails I am running and in 5 plu years I have never thrown a code or had a start problem.
Call Tony at Cerrone's, 650-365-4145, he has a good rice on the Magnacor's and also carries both Champion and Bosch Platium Plus 4's.
If you had this problem with a D1, I would understand, but not a D2. There may still be an issue as far as connections tht you may still want to address, but in the mean time, lets get you running better.
I forgot to mention, the 1071 and 1074 are 02 sensor faults, then there is P0152 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1) , which then leads me to think bsed on the codes and your mileage, you are ready for 4 02 sensors, and Atlantic British has them on sale for $59 right now.
