Error code p1451
I turned on my truck this morning and noticed the check engine light on. The code reader shows one signle code: P1451, which is apparently "evap emission control sts vent control valve circuit"
What is this, and what do i do about it?
Furthermore, for the past few days, i have occasionally noticed a little "clank" when i start the truck. Not every time, but it has happened maybe 2-3 times in the past week. Today was the first time i have noticed the check engine light. The sound sounds like it is coming from behind me, rather than from under the hood.
I do have a new aftermarket gas cap on (new as in maybe a couple months old). Checked it and it seems to be fine.
Truck is an 02 disco II. 130k miles.
Any ideas? Thanks.

P1451 Land Rover DTC: Leak detection pump
EVAP codes can be hard to track down. I think that your problem is going to be your leak detection pump. You can crawl under the truck and look at the pump to make sure it is plugged in and not damaged. It's located underneath the truck on the passenger frame rail near the rear drive shaft. It's connected to the charcoal canister. If all the plugs and wires looks good then you might need a new pump.
I have the same issue going on with my truck but i am getting 1450. I bought a used pump to try and see if it would fix my problem but the plugs were different and it didn't fit. I learned that there are 2 different pumps, 3 prong and 4 prong. To tell which one you have you need to unplug the pump and look to see if there are 3 or 4 electrical pins for the plug.
I have a 3 prong and it's been hell trying to find a used replacement. There are plenty of the used 4 prong, but not the 3. I think I will have to pay the $200 dollars for a new one, but I wanted to buy a used part to a least confirm it was my problem before paying that kind of money. I guess I could always return it if it doesn't solve my problem.

If you live somewhere that does emissions tests for vehicle inspections then you will fail until you get this problem resolved.

I'd check your gas cap again before crawling underneath the landy. Maybe uncap then recap again, cinching tight. I would probably clear the code after doing this and if the same code pops up, then crawl under the rig for some more gum shoe work. If the code pops up again, then you know for certain it is not the cap.
