Default Even the washer reservoir fails

In my five years on this and other Rover forums I don't recall ever seeing this problem. My son pointed out to me last weekend that there is a hole in the top edge of the washer reservoir. I went to look and sure enough, there it was. When I touched the edge of the hole the plastic crumbled easily. Have any of you had a problem with the plastic of the washer reservoir failing like this?

My first thought is that this is a ready-made duct tape repair opportunity, but then I wondered whether or not the rest of the tank is as brittle as this location. I just haven't had an opportunity to poke around on the bottom of the tank to test.

It's not very common but it's not entirely uncommon. Some washer tanks were made of inferior brittle plastic on the early models and were prone to UV and age degredation. What year are we talking about?

You would probably pick one up from a wreckers yard.

Non-standard bumper?
Good time for a relocation?

You're right. Probably UV degradation then through the gap.

It's a '99. Says so in my sig line but I guess if you are viewing this on your smart phone the sig lines do not appear. UV degradation makes sense. I'll poke around on the other parts of the reservoir and if it's not brittle elsewhere I'll probably just duct tape it for now. After all, the bottom doesn't get the UV exposure. But I am interested in the relo kit. I recall someone posting recently that they got one for something like $15 off of Amazon. Anyone have a link? But I'm wondering, would you be able to connect pumps for all three washer locations: windscreen, rear window and headlights? I know the headlight washers are silly, but ...

You are right. I've fixed my headlight washers on my 2003 more times than I care to remember and now they don't work again .................... I give up. Remember also they only work on every third pull of the front screen intermittent wash wipe (ridiculous idea).

Washer relo kit from Lucky8 and it's your side of the pond
