Default Exhaust situation

After I went to the dealer on saturday, I went to a shop to get my exhaust redone. After I bought the truck I realized someone had removed the cats, and the mufflers were pretty much shot so, I had them redo it from the headers back. I made it clear that I used it off road and wanted to keep my clearences, I even positioned the exhaust tip to show them how I wanted it coming out the back to keep a good departure angle. Well after a long day of waiting I looked at it real quick, everything looked good, but after a closer look yesterday, It doesn't look like its tucked up in like the original muffler. Doesn't the factory muffler and cats all sit above the frame rails? I don't know if I'm just worried about nothing here but I don't want to lose any ground clearence under the center of my truck.

Um, yeah, the cats should be on the down pipe, one on each side, and the muffler should bolt on right after the Y. Mine is all above the frame rails

yea I'm aware of the cats I guess they couldn't get them up where they are supposed to be, they might be a little bigger than stock, I really don't care bout that. I'm more worried about the whole deal hanging roughly 3" below the frame rail. I never really said I want nothing below the rails but I figured they would put the new smaller muffler in the place of the big ol stock one so it never crossed my mind. I guess I already know its too low but DANG IT why, I guess I have to call them up and ask nicely if they will do it all over again for free. I really hope this shop stands by their work.

If the cats they were using wouldn't fit in the stock location they should have gotten smaller cats. Having had my Rover crash down on the frame multiple times off road I would say you are completely justified in worrying about the exhaust hanging below the frame rails. I had a dent in my frame rail but no damage to my exhaust system or anything else important under the truck (the bent radius arm off the rear axle doesn't count).

You need to make sure they are "heavy metal" cats or your O2 sensors will go crazy. A muffler shop will know what to use.
