Extra Gauges!
So I was thinking of adding a few extra gauges on my TD5. Since I have remapped the engine I was thinking of adding boost and egt gauges, but what else would be beneficial, ideally spot problems before they become disasters? I was thinking Transfer case and transmission temperatures (mine is a manual)? What else? oil temperature/pressure?

Coolant temp and oil pressure should be #1 and 2.

Since it's a diesel, EGT and Boost. Then
Coolant temp Oil Press Voltage If you have a manual, trans temp is probably not an issue. But wouldn't hurt to know either. |
What's a normal oil pressure reading on the Nanocom ?

I think he means coolant temp by degrees since the rover temp gauge is...poor at best.

ok, but (i think) it gives a reliable indication? I mean as long as it is in the middle I do not care what the actual temperature is? or am I wrong? Or maybe it is not getting the reading from the best location?
A proper quality add-on gauge like you are thinking is the way to go. |
I did mean a gauge that shows the actual coolant temp. I'm not familiar with the TD5 version, but with the V8, the needle doesn't start moving past half way until you get to 235 or something like that. Most will tell you that is way to warm for these blocks. I suspect that the diesel is maybe more forgiving temp wise, but still good to know the actual number.
