Default Fault Codes I Have

Today I took by 02 Disco by Auto Zone. Here is a list of the codes the guy gave me print outs for. These are only the check engine codes. He said he cannot access the part to get the 3 Amigos.

1 - P1668 : PCM-IDM communications error
2 - P1590 : Neutral position switch circuit high input
3 - P0174 : Fuel trim bank two codition
4 - P0150 : H02-S circuit condition (heated oxygen sensor bank 2 sesor 1)
5 - P1174 : Fuel trim adaptation additive bank 1 malfunction

Are these common faults? Are they really anything to worry about? Have bought a piece of junk?

On top of this, I have the 3 Amigos

Do you know the last time it had a tune up?
That is where I wouold start, new plugs and wires. That will take care of most of the fault codes.
www.atlanticbritish.com, only use Magnecore plug wires or you will be doing it again in a month.
You didnt buy a piece of junk, you just need to fix what the previous owner neglected.

Thanks Spike...you are always on top of my questions.

I don't know when it was tuned last. I have had it less than a week.

Is plugs and wires about all that needs to be done? Is changing the plugs and wires a pretty easy job, or should I have a pro do it?

I called my local dealer...just to see their price. They want over $600 to change plugs and wires. He talked like that is about all they do for a "tune up". I know that is not the place to take it for work. I was just curious

Should a pro do it? That depends on your mechanical ability and the amount of paitence that you have.
As far as what a tune up consists of, yes, plugs and wires.
Will that take care of all of your fault codes? Maybe. But that is a great place to start. It needs to be done and will clear most of your codes if not all.
It is more difficult on a DII than a DI, and no dont let the dealer do it, it will be done right but it will cost you like you have found out.
A normal shop will probally charge you around $200, with your parts.

For the 3 amigos, you need a mechanic with the proper equipment. He needs to be able to read ABS fault codes.

Hold on the tune up!!!
How many miles on your truck?
The 1590 code is because your 3 amigos are on, the lean codes are most likely a MAF. The othe code is 02 related.

The MAF is the Mass Air Flow sensor. It's between the air box (that holds the air filter) and intake. There's a plug and wire coming out of it, and takes about 5 minutes to replace. The codes for the 3 amigos will need to be read by the stealership, or an indy shop with a TestBook, or AutoLogic diagnostic computer.

Would this confirm that it is a sensor issue? Yesterday on my way to work the service engine light went off. Later in the evening it came back on. Would the light going off and then coming back on tell you anything about the issue?

Kinda hope it is the MAF, sounds like a very easy fix.
