Default Fox or bilstein?

I am looking at re-doing my suspension. I am Looking at the bilstein 7100 with poly bushing (instead of heim), and the fox emulsion. It seems like a 12" front 10" rear seem to be right for 3" springs. Looking at the OME 751/763 combo. Maybe adding a 1" spacer if needed for extra clearance.

Any new opinions on the fox or bilstein option?

I'm also looking for new shocks, and from my research nothing beats bilstien, but I also dont know much about fox. I'm going with Terrafirma though. Best bang for the buck.

Best bang for the buck if had when you save up enough money and go for a good lift. And unless you are going long on the shocks, the OME Sport Shock is the best for the buck.
Bilstein makes a good shock, especially if you are going 7100 or better, for up to a 3" lift they are about 1/2" shorter then factory and their warranty is terrible compared to the 3 year from OME.

You've got that backwards: 10" up front, 12" in the rear.

I run Fox emulsions. Only issue I had was that the spherical bushings didn't last (you hear the same things about the Bilsteins), so I switched to poly (which you already mentioned). Otherwise, I love 'em.

Ok some I'm confused, I got the owner at the Rover Shop up here in Calgary telling me that OME aren't all that it's made up to be? Tells me that terra firma is the way to go. Now I'm thinking OME with 2" lift. What are those terrafirmas like? I'd like to go bilstien but not that rich right now. What about Boge? Sorry for jackin your thread.

I'm running the shocks that I got from Old Man Emu for my 2" lift and I'm 3k miles into them with pretty good performance

The TerraFirma are ok. Just a tad soft for me to use on a loaded truck. I wish the compression valving was firmer. I get a fair amount of initial roll, more than I would like. On the trail the truck doesn't feel as 'planted' as I wuold like. My last truck with 3-way adjustable ohlin's was alot more 'planted'. Now that I am thinking about it I wish the rebound valving on the TF was firmer too. I think TF might be trying to use the same shock for too many spring options.

Thanks for the correction. Did you spec your valving? Where did you order from?

Fox valving numbers don't look the same as Bilsteins. I went with the widely accepted 85/95 in the front (360/80 in Bilstein) and 90/100 in the rear (400/100 in Bilstein).

Now, I don't run sway bars so the heavy valving is compensating for that. I'm running linear RTE 3" springs. The highway ride is firm and feels safe, without completely killing the offroad experience (just let more air out of the tires to soften the ride ).

I got mine years ago from Downsouth Motorsports. I picked up the poly bushings some time after from ORW.
