Did you make sure you had the mounting points on the frame? Check that first. But yes you will need to cut it.

BPUtah has all the mounting hardware.Land Rover Discovery Genuine OEM Factory Brush Bar Mounting Installation Hardware

Thanks for the info. It looks like I need to buy the mounting brackets.
