Default Fuel Economy Surprise - 16 mpg

For once, not a problem. My son took the truck 400+ miles roundtrip to Wilmington and back this weekend. He reset the UltraGauge before leaving in each direction. He said the UG showed 15.8 mpg on the way there and 16.1 mpg on the way back to Charlotte last night. All stock drivetrain and tires. I've never gotten much over 14 on a road trip. Someone on here last week reported 17 mpg, I recall. Maybe, just maybe ...

I dunno how accurate UG is at fuel stuff.. Calculating MPG by how many miles driven on a tank will give you true data!

Mine usually runs about 16 mpg highway. Closer to 15 w the ac going. Fairly stock. Both by UG and math. Can stretch to about 350 miles on a tank bf feeling the need for that yellow light to stop glowing. Have yet to test fuel low light to empty mileage. Right about 9 mpg in the city. Ouch.

9 mpg non ethanol gas pen and paper. UG correctly calibrated 16MPG. I’ll go with pen and paper.

Down hill, on a flat bed truck, being towed home, I still get at best 12 mpg

Went 270 miles on 19.1 gallons -- just a tick over 14mpg for me. UG reads 14.5

Don't know what happen to my 01, but after it's 800 mile round trip to Ohio...it went from a steady, solid 14.2 (probably recording six or seven tanks)...to...15.7 mpg (about six tank full). Actually recorded 16.+ mpg on the way down and way home, all highway driving (65/70 mph). Don't know if the length of the drive help clean out the cats or what? But, it has increased...and stayed.

Only other change has been...using Sunoco/Shell gas. Was using BP before.

Rookies.

I'm still getting 30 mpg.
Rolling downhill with a tailwind and the truck in Neutral, but that's semantics.
