Default Fuel Temp Sensor

I took some pics of what I think is the fuel temp sensor. Is this correct? Is it under pressure? Can I just screw the new one in the same old hole?

The fuel temp sensor is on the fuel rail.
Driver side.

I think you are looking at the coolant temp sensor. I think this is the fuel temp sensor. I know the fuel system stays pressurized, so I would run it down before you start. Pull the fuel pump relay, start the truck, and once it dies, it will be down. Turn off ignition and pull the negative lead on the battery.

Good Luck.

is there a way to test if it is bad (using a DMM? etc) before I spend 80 dollars on a new one?

I'm not sure how to test it.
But I know that it doesn't open into the fuel system, so
it can be taken off with out any worries.

I have never heard of a fuel temperature sensor. Very interesting. I guess my formal education in automotive technology is expiring. Well. it's been 10 years almost. What would a computer system adjust based on fuel temperature?
