When I bought my 04 it leaked there and that was one of my first fixes. Mine didn't look quite that bad but almost. I bought a new heater plate with gasket from A/B for about $30 and used some permatex gasket spray on both sides of the gasket and tightened it up to spec and 1 year and 30,000 miles later it's still holding fine. See the link below for the new part & gasket, you can source it plenty of places.

You can also search around and find multiple lines of thought on whether to bypass the heater plate or not. I chose to fix it and leave it and I've not had issues. Other's it has vexed to no end.

As a matter of fact, I ordered one " just incase"! will put it to use pronto.

That's the next project with the truck IF! everything works good with this "tune up". Really looking forward to some coolant upgrades, will actually go for the inline thermostat and possible 2 fans in front of the radiator, there is a ton of room there!

I was pro Atlantic British my first few months of ownership but quickly learned to troll eBay, Amazon and guys that support the forum like Lucky8 others. If you are slightly patient then it really isn't too expensive to own one of these. At least any more so than any other 13 to 18 year old car that would need all of the same kind of TLC that these do.

I use Atlantic British to get an idea of what I don't want to pay then check lucky8 and then over seas. I try to give my business to lucky8 but sometimes I can't pass up some of the deals I find in the U.K. Sucks I know but we are all trying to save what we can without making the other half too darn mad at "blowing money on a toy" as my wife says

Got sick and without the intention of setting any records, I believe this will be the tune up that lasted weeks!

a ton of cleaning!
so far about 6 brake cleaners and 3 carburato let cleaners.
but is looking good!
time to put things back together

Hmmmm
I don't like this... something doesn't look good.
doesn't the purge valve goes to a canister?

Valve end should be inserted into hose going to the intake manifold and hose end heads down towards canister.
