Does anyone have G4 lamp guards mounted on their 99-02 Disco II? I have seen conflicting reports. I spoke w/ a sales rep at Atlantic British andhe said(and the online catalong) they will only fit 03-04. However, I have seen other places say they will fit 99-04. They seem like they would fit fine on an 02since there is not much difference between the 02 and 03 tail lights, aside from internal bulb placement. Not sure if there is a difference in the curvature of the tail light or something else I am missing.Input?

These plastic Lamp Guards are fitted to the Land Rover G4 Challenge Discoveries, and protect the upper tail lamps on all model years of the Disco2. These are especially attractive on the 2003 and 2004 model years of the Disco2, as these vehicles come standard with flat and featureless tail lamps.

 

yes, this was one site that said they would fit all years Disco II. Does anyone have these on their 99-02? I am curious how they fit/look. I think there might be a gap since 99-02 tail lights have grooves. Not sure how if these gaps are obvious.

 

I have seen them on a 2001 DII and they look even better, in my opinion, than on the 03-04. Yes they will fit, I am 100% percent.

Some people will tell you they are just for looks, which is true, and that they get ripped off while off roading... But they look great and unless you are running trails with lots of possilbe obstacles to rip them off I wouldnt worry about it. These are the best looking ones, again in my opinion, because they dont sit as far off the light as the metal ones and they DONT RUST!

 

Actually these are better than the metal ones because they lay flat against the body. The metal ones have a gap where tree branches can get wedged between and act as a lever. The plastic ones sit flush and should be offer a little better protection.

 

Just like to clear up something, these are NOT "G4 lamp guards", they are Just Discovery 2 Lamp Guards, theywere available as an accessoryfrom day 1 of the Disco 2 which was nearly 5 years before the G4 challenge. They were just fitted as standard to the G4 vehicles from the factory
