Default Gasoline question

As gas prices keep going up here in Texas, I was wondering about using a different grade of gas in my disco?

has anyone done this? if I go to a lower grade of gas is there an additive?

or should I just stay with premium gas ???

Thanks

Ralph

Stay with premium. Using lower grade gives you less MPG so you may pay less per gallon but you get less miles. Lower grade will also damage your engine over a long time.

gotta stick with the pricey stuff.. I know it hurts. I am suppose to head to Charlotte NC in a week for work was going to drive but am now looking at flights even with baggage charges for camera gear it may be cheaper than the gas plus wear and tear.... prices here in Philly are between 3.65-3.71/gal.

I had to run my card twice today, because the pump shut off at $75!

The truck requires 91. I'm not sure by you, but by me you could only get 93. If you are really looking to stretch your dollars, it would be fine to fill with premium 93, then refill with regular 87 before the 1/2 mark... or about 10 gallons. That would equal out to making your own 91. You could also just do half and half at the pump. Premium has more detergents, but if you run a cleaner every so often you will be fine.

It requires premium, at sea level that is 93 and the higher elevations will have lower octane premiums.

I've always felt the difference between Regular and Premium was of little or no consequence. It's not really going to save you much money- only about $4 per tank. Is it worth it for $4?

At this point, you're going to pay $70+ for a full tank regardless of what grade of fuel you buy.

If you a have Disco, the last thing you should be worried about is gas mileage. That is the only light on that dashboard that doesn't worry me when it comes on.I know that light is only gonna cost me $75.
