Yep NGK spark plugs have been excellent. Even the Autolite Double Platinums work well. I just highly recommend staying away from Bosch 2x or 4x plugs as they foul very easy.

alright!
Everything I need for head gaskets, timing chain, oil pump, front cover, water pump and new plugs. The Bosch +4 were only there for a short period but they are a pain to replace and to prevent the chance of fouling I will replace them with NGK plugs.
Good times ahead!!
Happy Christmas!

OE plugs are Champions. Check the RAVE. I've had fabulous success with the Champion 7070s in my '99. Whatever you get make sure they are double platinums.

Good! I have ordered all parts needed and will start the work when I return from the Holidays (around January 4th). While the Disco doesn't leak too much coolant at the moment, I don't think it is safe to take it on a 2200 miles trip during the holidays. It looks like the whole family (6 of us) will be packed in the old Audi allroad!
I will of course start another thread when I actually start the work and document everything!

Do as you like but it is perfectly safe to drive the truck on your trip if you keep the coolant topped up.

I shouldn't be worried that it will get worst and become unmanageable?
There is a slight coolant leak at the back of the head gasket. It ends up on the cats and smells of burnt coolant. Just enough to keep the cats wet, not enough to pool or drip.

I put about 10k on my truck with that same leak... Just keep it topped up... and make sure to open the bleed screw in the morning (cold engine) to make sure there is no air in the system.

Do you have an Ultragauge, or some way to accurately monitor the system? It would be a smart investment.

Default Ultragauge?

not sure what the ultragauge is but I have nanocom and I could leave it plugged in to get exact coolant temp...

An Ultragauge is a fairly low cost OBDII reader a lot like your Nanocom. Yes, leave it plugged in so you know exactly what your temps are. As you know the dash gauge is an idiot needle.
