Default Gonna get my first Disco and ive some questions

Hi guys im new here...

Also new to 4x4s but none float my boat other than the Disco..Would like the new style but that aint gonna happen..!
So will be an old one and i will drive it in to the ground (if i live that long)...!

Ive a couple of questions..

1) Can the jump seats (foldups) be taken out...? (would prefer to have the boot space)

2) What are the key weaknesses to look out for rust points etc etc..

Also I plan to run it on a twin tank WVO system as deisel in the uk is just damn extortionate..!!! NB THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS BIODIESEL

Anyone here got experience of running a veichle on Waste Vegetable Oil..?

All the best

I know nothing about diesels of any sort, so i'll leave #2 to the others, but as for number one, you can take out the jumps seats if needed, but if I were you I would just look for a non SE7 model because they wont have jump seats to being with.

Do you think you'll be looking at DI's or DII's?? And also, what year range are you looking at? And what will you use the truck for? Off roading or just on road?

I have never run WVO but I have run Bio-Diesel in my Bora for a few years.
The smell was good but the mileage was less and power was not there.

What I know about WVO is make sure you get it hot before switching from D2 to it.
Service Oil Changes will need to be done more often.
It has a tendency to plug the intake if not filtered right.

Mostly on road tho I will want to tryout offroad a few times..!

Ive got about £3500 to spend..
think i can get an early TDI (1999/2002) ish.
Im not to fussed about the milage as they just seem to go on and on and on.......Not really fussed about the paintwork too much either..

Tho a nice cab would be good...!

cheers

Basicaly this confirms what ive already recearched...

Put 5L in to my Golf today and its backon the red again...and its just a standard model.... ENOUGH say i..

My Bora has 57 HP less and 17 ft lbs tq more than my V8 Disco for the time and is 1600 lbs lighter.

So it will go over the Rocky MTS with out down shifting out of 5th gear, just set the cruise and go.
