A good reason to have CDL on 03 or 04

Just noticed in the manual that on pre-03 models if the CDL is locked you lose traction control where on the 03 or later you retain traction control but with modified parameters. This is fairly important if you want to run TrueTrac differentials, it means that an 03 or 04 with the centre diff locked 'should' auto-activate the TT power shift using ETC when a wheel slips.
I'd love to see the effective difference on the trail, I'm guessing an 03/04 with dual TT's should do quite well.
Can't wait to get my transfer case on and linkage setup and ARB in the back. Should all be done by the end of the week unless everything that can go wrong does.

There is some confusion here. 99's, 2000's and some early production 2001's, have the old style t/case that had the CDL feature. If you have it you are blessed and come play with the of us and our lockers on the hard trails. If you don't you are limited to the traction provided by the ETC which is limited but OK.
You can add lockers to a truck with CDL and not to non CDL t/cases.
I am confuse, arte you buying and swapping out your t/case for a CDL unit, is so you are going to be in for a surprise.

No, what I'm saying is the computer upgrades in the 03/04 make it so that ETC still works when your centre diff is locked (some 03's had a CDL) so you'll actually get more traction than expected when you're using TT diffs because the slipping wheel will be braked by ETC causing the power shift immediately.
Yes, I'm swapping in a LT230 with CDL but this is just something I came across in the service manual that was interesting. Models before 03 will disable ETC with CDL locked.

I am not sure where you are getting your information but it is completely wrong.
First NO 03 came with a CDL nor a 2002 or most of the 2001's.
CDL when engaged will or won't turn of the ETC and the ABS as well as the hill decent, depending on how and when you engage it.
If you want to call me I will get more specific.

Thefollowing may be of interest to those with earlier models:
Post by Craig Miller on www.northwestoverlandsociety.org.
It suggests removing a blue/black wire from the SLABS ecu. If I recall correctly blue/black is the standard wire colour used by L/R for the CDL warning light switch. It might (and I haven't checked) be possible to disconnect at the switch on the transfer case before cutting wires.

My question is why would you want to, you have the best of both world if left along, running with CDL and the ETC, ABS and Hill Decent working or turn the off by just restarting youe negine while the CDL is engages and runn without all the bells and whistle just lots of extra traction.

Mike, well it's from Discoweb. "Buying a 2003 SE7"

I had thought that too, but others claim differently.

Well, I have to tell you, coming from DWeb means nothing especially.
I have nearly 30 years in the shop experience along with going on 6 years driving a 99 D2 that I put the solenoid conversion to activate the CDL.
If you want to call me, I;ll be glad to go over it step by step.
