Grey warm weather thermostat vs motorad
Yes San Diego winters are nothing to speak off. We complain if it is above or below 78f all the time. But when we go sking ten hours way and temps are -10-20 at night sometimes, I wonder how heater will work? Our XC90 Volvo has always taken the and been a trooper. This will be the Discovery first trip this year.

That would indicate contaminated coolant, and should be addressed.
IMO cooling on these is too critical to risk manufacturing "issues", especially when when you're not saving any money to speak of.
I had two motorads fail in less than a year. They don't get a 3rd chance from me.

I went with the motorrad first and had a lot of problems with it. It was erratic in its opening temp and was worse then my 100k mile original. I switched to the gray soft spring and it has been flawless. It dropped temps from spiking to 221 in stop and go traffic to never getting back into the 200s again regardless of conditions. I run 188 on the open road and average about 194 deg in traffic.
I have the grey land rover thermostat and love it, dropped temps about 15 degrees across the board and for all the people worrying about heat performance it was -20 degrees celsius here today and heater was nice and toasty. The best part of the soft spring is that the temps stay stable when you go from throttle to idle. With my original thermostat the hard spring made it so that the temps would spike every time I let off the throttle after highway driving and coming to a lights for example.
Best modification/repair I have ever made to a vehicle.
