Default Has anyone gone back to stock height after a lift?

Hello fellow LR enthusiasts!

After analyzing my driving patterns, where I park, and who uses the vehicle... I have come to a conclusion that having a 2" lift is probably not necessary for my needs. Parking downtown becomes a hassle and most of the my overland travel does not require a serious off-road setup. Thus, I am contemplating going back to the stock height. Has anyone done the same? If so, please share your experience.

Side note, can I reuse my TF shocks with stock height OME springs?

Thank you!

I’ve thought about the parking garage issue many times not having and wanting the 2” TF. If you decide to make the move back to the short side, PM me and if the price is right I’d be interested in buying your stuff.

It's a different look; more shopping mall than rock crawler. However, you get better drivability (if you didn't regear) and generally a more comfortable feel than the A/Ts most people put on lifted trucks.

Mine has a 3" lift and I want to go down to 2" or even stock, yeah. I don't like how firm it rides really and no one has given me a good answer about what suspension is good for the street.

I'm keeping mine at @+2" lift and yes it is a very firm ride with HD springs in the front. of my D2.
It's funny to see people stop and watch me drive in parking garages waiting for my roof to scrape. lol

I've never been able to find a very good answer on what works well as far as stock height setups. I'm thinking about the Lucky8 stock height springs and either Bilsteins or OME with an extended bump stop, but it's hard to find good opinions on this.

I was a Bilstein believer before I had this truck, tried two sets and both failed prematurely. For the price point I didn't expect that. If I were to go back to stock I'd go with the Terrafirma medium duty shocks. and stock springs. Terrafirma shocks are literally 1/3 the cost of Bilsteins and so far have performed and lasted much better/longer for me.

That's helpful Dave, I've heard nothing but good things about those Terrafirmas and you certainly can't argue with the price!

I went back to stock height after an Old Man Emu 2” lift.

It was too impractical being in Chicago, as was the roof rack which I sold.

I have the OME Sport shocks, still love them, but honestly I do miss the stiffer ride. It was a bit jarring on rough highway, but it handled way better.

But I love watching all the off roaders, and they look cool and pics and are cool. But for going around town the lift was just too much, and my wife, short of stature had a hard time getting in, lol.

In a perfect world I would ship it down to Ekstensive in Houston from Texas Metal and have them put on a airbag system that would be rugged, reliable and an upgrade. Would be great to drop it to get my father in and out he is 89, but loves the rover, also my little guy and wife.

But am much happier without it lifted.
