I would like to take mine off and was wondering if I could buy two mud flaps for the front and bolt them right on?
Is there any extra trim pieces missing I would have to buy?

I did a search but didn't see where anyone had put mudflaps back on.

 

I have a Discovery I. and a Discovery II.
I did not know the running boards were factory..
I thought someone just bolted them on.

I removed mine years ago, but only left the rear mudflaps on, so as to be nice to people behind me on the road. Were I not nice, I would have removed them as well.

 

Man, I have no idea, just assumed they were stock.

 

If they have front mudflaps built in, that follow the contours of the front wheel arches, they probably are stock (factory option or add-on) The factory boards are attached to the frame with 8" or so outriggers. (I had to go check mine which are on the roof of my RX-7 in the garage still.)

 

That sounds like mine. Do you think i can just bolt normal mud flaps on?

 

They were a factory option, and then there was the G4 models, some with Safari Gard sliders.

 

Just make sure you unbolt all the mounting hardware, the *** who removed mine just removed the boards. The first couple of times i rolled under the truck i got a steel bracket in the middle of my forehead.
