Default Head Gasket ?'s

Ok,

Everything seems to be going just fine until it came time to 'Release coolant rail from inlet manifold and discard 'O' ring.

I'm unable to remove the RH Rocker Cover until this coolant rail is removed.

Any Tips? I understand I should just pull it out, but this thing is really stuck. I've tried to put some PB Blaster on it and let it sit but nothing as of yet. I've tried twisting the pipe to get it started, but still nothing. The only thing I was able to do was wiggle it from front to back, without too much force, and see one little bubble pop through the PB Blaster. It was as if it was about to loosen up, but nothing!!!

Matt

Did you complete step 4, "Remove 2 bolts securing coolant rails.." ? The front bolt is below the pipe, and sometimes difficult to see.
Someone had replaced the rear bolt on mine with a stud. This left little wiggle room and made removal difficult. I changed it back to a bolt.

Hello Nick Adams,

Yes, I removed the bolt under the pipe. The second is the bolt connecting the two pipes together, correct? Otherwise, I may have missed the second bolt all together.

I think the picture above it the directions in the rave is pretty self explanatory. Get that bolt out and wiggle it around until it comes off. Most likely that o-ring baked the hose and manifold together so you'll definitely need to replace it once you finally get it apart.

I think just one bolt holds it on.

Take a look at these pictures..

If the bolt is out, it should come out. Wiggle it around a bit.

Just wondering if the HG's are related to your no heat issue?

Headed out now to wiggle it. I'll get back to you. Dont wanna force the issue. I already broke the red Brake Servo Clip trying to remove it.

I'm not sure about the no heat related to the head gaskets, but I'm thinking, ive replaced everything/checked all heating components and since then, all kinds of white smoke coming from the tailpipe. "And I aint fallin for no white smoke from the tailpipe". Unless my truck gets a new pope. Bahahah... So at this point, I sure hope it solves the no heat Issue but head gasket job is/was needed regardless.

OK,

I was able to remove the Coolant Pipe from the Inlet Manifold.
I had a friend wiggle it back and forth as I wedged a screw driver just above and behind the screw whole fixing it to the manifold.

Headed back out now till I run into the next hurdle.

Thanks,

Matt

If you took that one bolt out - you can rotate the pipe back and forth and then pull up on it also as you are rotating back and forth. It will come out.
The o-ring is probably really hardened and bad.

Yep, that 'O' ring was all beat up!!! I'll replace it when everything goes back together.
