Default Heater blower chirping

The heater/AC blower in my 2000 Disco has begun an occasional but very annoying chirping sound, which I assume means that it’s in need of repair or replacement. Since my wrenching days go back to a time when we actually fixed things, instead of just replacing them, I thought I’d ask what’s possible in this case. The RAVE indicates only removal and replacement, but there seems no harm in asking if there’s anyone with experience in this situation. Can it be repaired/lubricated, or do I just rip out and replace it?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

Alot of times a leaf or debris work there way into the fan and cause noises. Removing the fan will lead to the problem and maybe a easy fix!

I had the same intermittent chirping, there were some writeups about removing the blower and lubing the bearings. Unfortunately it didn't work in my case and I ended up replacing the assembly. But it's worth a shot, not too hard to remove (which in itself is a wonder on these things when dealing with dash related components)

I removed mine, per Rave, then disassembled case and cleaned and inspected the motor. It turned out I needed the fuse panel by-pass fix, but it looked like a guy could install new brushes in the motor, if need be.
I also had an annoying leaf in the squirrel one time,

Thanks for all the responses.

I'll try to fix it first, then find a replacement if that fails.

Mine squeaks too. Mostly during left turns. I'll be attempting greasing, and/or replacing, the bearings and verifying good brushes. Won't be right away, but when I do, I'll report back.

I clean the leaves out of mine about twice a year. It's not hard to get out and re-install.
