Heater bower fan/motor replacement
Fan stopped blowing, so looking to replace the blower motor. I see there is a resistor with a heat sink that controls the actual fan speed with voltage changes received from the thermostat. Has anyone just replaced the resistor that is mounted on the the heat sink rather than buying the $200 part pictured here? I read some hints on determining whether it is the blower motor, which is $50, or the temperature control resistor, but at 22 yrs of age I figure repair both while I am in there. Any suggestions from those that have done this repair?

Never messed with the resistor, but the blower motor is a 30 minute repair, even taking your time. It's right under the dash on the passenger side. Three bolts, an electrical connector, and it's out. It's probably worth pulling it and applying 12V with a jumper pack to see if it spins. If it spins as it should, investigate the resistor. If not, throw a new blower motor in it.
