Helicoil treads in block?

I purchased another 2000 Disco and an rebuilding the whole top end and new water pump. When I was tightening down the heads I did the suggested 15 lbs and than mark it and 90 and than another 90. I was just starting my second tightening sequence and on the number 1 bolt I started tightening it and it was tight and than became loose. Took the head back off and noticed threads comming out of the hole. I pulled all the threads out like a helicoil was put in the block at one time. I guess my question is has anyone had to helicoil their block before and what kind of luck did you have? I am guessing I am going to have to helicoil it tomorrow and see how it goes, dont see any other way.

that sucks..

thats sucks as the bolts you already torqued are finished. you need to get new head bolts again. I would check with a machine shop first about helicoil to make sure it can take the torque. they may need to refill and tap a new hole...or worst...it's toast. Remember, the head bolts are only milimeters away from the water jackets. It it was my block and i need it refilled i would resleeve as to make sure i was not compromising the block by the refill of material and retap. Just my 2 cents.... no sence wasting all that money to fill a crack behind the liner....

let us know, Chris
