Help me tackle this list of issues.
Still am not home yet. Just bought discovery today, has issues not told my seller.
Can't wait to see what I bought tomorrow morning. At least I know it drives good.
Here are my issues already.
1 why do I have two wires and an extra female side of a seatbelt under my seat. Sellers hiding something.
2 get rid of this service engine light.
3 anti lock light, goes off when I start the truck but then something triggers it back in when braking. Brakes feel funny towards the end of a slow stop
4 head unit whines with engine rmps and is rediculously loud.
5 engine whines pretty loudly at idle.
6 my cruise controll master switch works but does not set when I hit set.

The whining you hear at engine idle could be one of your serpentine belt pulleys (bad bearings). At least give them some attention next chance you get.
Regarding your service engine light, get a code reader (or stop by an Advance Auto and have them read for you) and post the codes you get here, and we can advise you from there.

OH, Boy
In My humble opinion, the BEST thing you can do for offroading is learn to drive it intelligently.
The second best is decent tires (If your suspension is not sagging the biggest you can use with minor rubbing is 245/70/16)
The third is get it all working right.
I think stock, the tires are the biggest hangup.
These will run circles around almost anything, all other specs being equal.
congrats
luck,greg
