Default Here she is 1999 Discovery

Well here is the new (rough) Discovery I picked up.

Didn't run previous owner said it needed a fuel pump, replaced a blown fuse and now it runs. Truck is pretty beat up, obviously maintenance wasn't a priority. Only drives in reverse, I can change the gears all the way through but no go in the forward gears. Got under to look at the tranny oil level and the level plug wasn't there (was in a cup holder). Hi/lo lever is stuck.

So far I have changed the oil and filter, replaced fuses, and drove it in reverse.
Should be fun!!!

A quick wash to see what was under the dirt...well more dirt

She threw some codes as well "P0500 and P0722". Also, all the lights dang near are on the dash.

Output speed sensor circuit no signal

Speed sensor malfunction

All of these lights are from idling. No parking breaks or anything are on.

Did some reading of the Rave manual and looks like it is a torque converter issue. Should be fun to fix.

Disconnected the connectors and cleaned at the gear box and still just reverse. Truck seems to have the E-Brake on at all times. Truck only drives in reverse and it doesn't want to. Going to the parts store to replace a bunch of bad fuses and fill up the transfer box.

Took busted back bumper cover off, front right blinker, shattered windshield fluid reservoir, and cleaned up some plastic. I am trying to decide if I want to sink money into repairing the transmission or just replace it. Mostly because I have no idea what problems it has had in the past. What do you guys think? Replace or repair.

Are you sure the trans is full of fluid? If it will move in reverse but not forward it is likely not a torque converter issue, more likely a trans solenoid issue, or possibly a front clutch. Where are you located?

You said you found the transmission check plug in the cup holder. Did you check the trans level. This isn't just a oh it's good check. You need to cycle through each gear and for each gear add fluid. If you have not done this you have no info to tell if the truck has fluid in the trans. this is the place to start. if you have done this and have a full level then we can talk more advanced diagnosis.
