Curious, why did you choose to go the rattle can route as opposed to a real sprayer? Cost?
The rattle cans were cheap, easy, and readily available in an exact color match. Honestly, I really thought I'd have to sand it down and do it again. I did the rattle can spray job mostly out of stupid curiosity to see how it would come out. It came out way better than I expected, so I am just leaving it as is. I may put the hood blackout decal on it because I like the look, and that part of the repaint did not come out as good as the rest of the hood.
I have only ever known one person who can get such a great repaint out of rattle cans. I was just as amazed then as I am now. Actually spraying would have probably been easier than what you did.
Like everyone else, the clear coat on my hood was peeling badly. Got tired of looking at it back i the fall. Hit the hood with 200 and 400 on an orbital. Took it down all the way through the clear and most of the paint. Left a little paint and base primer. Hit it with a couple spray cans of etching primer. Then two coats ( spray rattle cans ) of LF factory Epsom Green Metallic single stage. Three good coats ( spray rattle cans ) of factory clearcoat.
600 grit hand wet sanded, 1000 grit hand wet sanded, 1500 liquid cut compound on a circular buffer, light polish compound and turtle wax on an orbital. Added a new "Land Rover"script.
Came out pretty darn good for a half dozen spray cans in the garage, and an afternoon buffing in the yard. Finally getting around to posting the pictures.
Very nice. I’d say that was a successful day and improvement over how it looked.
Only thing I noticed from the photo was your American flag. Stars (Union) always go in upper left when hung vertically.
I would be careful in Brigantine with that overdue and failed inspection sticker. The cops there can get a bit bored. You also need a permit to be on the beach and do your best not to get in the calendar.

Truck has already passed inspection. I had to wait on my cancelled and rescheduled registration renewal appointment before I could take it through inspection. It went right through. Also already have the state park and beach permits. We go out on the beach with two trucks, with all the requisite beach equipment. That calendar hangs on my SIL's refrigerator.
