180F’s will lower temps from reaching the 220F range (with a 195F it was 193-220F easy), the 180F opens sooner, but your temp range will be somewhere in the 184-215F range. I always recommend reading the stamped C temp inside the thermostat, back in the day Auto Zone was famous for selling 180F’s thst were actually 195F units. Checking the stamped twmp is a good way to verify the actual temp tange of the thermostat.

A lot depends on speed, terrain, and external temps, highway/road temps, aftermarket equipment, and even the wind all factor into your temps.

I’m in SETX and range from 182-215F depening on the season, speed, and weather conditions. The temps are even across my 3 D2’s so I am 99% sure that is normal for my area/conditions.

Thanks, my mind is much more at ease. I will keep the current setup to see how it does in the cold (assuming nothing else fails) and won't sweat the temps if they don't get any higher than they do now.

I wish I were wheeling! Really haven't done much off-road, but definitely want to get out even in stock form...but want to do my best to get the mechanics all straightened out first before I start thinking about upgrades.

That's the one I just ordered. Should I send it back? Or is this one good?

I dunno, man. Seems like everyone is very jazzed on the Genuine replacement. But yea, curious why AB doesn't sell one. Thought they were the #1 source for Genuine parts?

By the way, noticed a tiny bit of coolant, just a hint, around the seam of the coolant tank. I have no problem spending $40 to replace, but I do have some nice clear JBWeld. Think that'll hold up? Says it has a heat rating up to 300ºf and 4400psi.

I've never heard anyone really jazzed about going back to a stock front propshaft actually. Consider though that is the same unserviceable U Joint that is at the front of the rear shaft and those last forever.

That being said it's easy enough to just replace them with serviceable Precision/Moog units from Rock Auto.
