RE: I have a 2-3 sec delay on start!
I never thought about it but I just put the key in and turn all the way to (run)!!
But just now I did what you said and waited 5 sec and it didn’t do it so I turned it off and pulled the key out and tried it the way I am us to just stick key in and turn! Still started right up its not doing now I guess it’s a morning cold engine thing!

There are three positions on the ignition-I is off II is run, engine running hand off the key normal driving, listining to the radio with the engine off.
III is crank, meaning that is the position that is all they way forward, as in starting or cranking the engine.
What is happening is that your fuel pump is loosing its prime. So when the truck sits the fuel system looses fuel pressure. You turn the key to III to start the engine and the fuel pump has to prime the fuel system and since you are cranking the engine with no fuel supply it takes longer to start. Once the fuel system is primed the engine will start right away because it has a instant supply of fuel.
By turning the key to II you are turning on the fuel pump and priming the fuel system thus building fuel pressure before starting the engine. SO then when you do start the engine it has a instant fuel supply.
So you have two options. Crank it for 2-3 seconds or turn the key to the II (run) position and wait 5 seconds.
Neither one is bad.

That’s what I was thinking! It’s a bad habit I got from Az when you open your door 200 deg of HOT air hits you in the face so I just open the door reach in and start it up and hang back a sec! I will try it tomorrow and I think that will do the trick Ill let you know Thanks Spik555

You waited to long. When you first turn the key to the "run" position the fuel pump kicks in for a few seconds and then shuts back off.
So the time it took you to turn the key on and then open the back door and buckle your son the pump came on and then shut back off. It didnt run long enough to fully pressurize the fuel system.
Tommorrow morning turn the key to "run", wait 5 seconds and then start it.
See if that works better or if I am just blowing smoke.
