Default Ignition switch push to remove key

When I push the key into the ignition to remove the key it takes enough force I'm concerned I might break a key. Anyone ever modify the ignition to reduce how much inward pressure is needed?

Have you lightly lubed it? There is an aftermarket setup that doesn’t require you to push the key in to remove it, but unless they changed it recently it only came with 2 basic non fob keys, and it did not match the drivers door key.

It's been lubed but feels like pure spring tension

Minimal tension for me to do it. What I am exceptionally cautious with is turning the key to start it- with all the stories of broken keys and the like. It seems you have to find a “sweet spot” where the keys align with the tumblers.

In your case I’d say something is in the way- I’d disassemble and investigate. Yes, it will suck.
