Default Improved Ride?

Spoke with someone who said that if my '99 Disco II still has the OEM shocks( which it does...they're black )that I should put some " Bill Stein " dampers on because they will improve the ride. Any thoughts? Thanks - RR.

The OEM shocks and springs go downhill after 75,000. I'm at 111,000 and mine are terrible and I just bought Old Man Emu shocks and springs plus a new steering damper. They cost $600 from Lucky 8 for the set of 4 shocks and springs. Bilstein's cost less and are fine especially for onroad but OME are what people really seem to really like.

Yup, new shocks will help improve your ride.
BilStiens are a premium brand so they are a good choice.

Is there a similar product as the bilstein or OME that would be easier on my wallet? Thanks for the responses. - RR.

What do you use the truck for?
I just went to AutoZone and bought a set of Gabriels, lifetime warranty and all for $120 for my DI.
Over a year later and they are still doing great.
That includes off roading, not rock crawling but trails, dirt roads and the like.

100% pavement right now BUT, I do plan on hitting some trails in the future. Being from Detroit City I've got alittle bit of a drive before I find any trails...but I will find them! Thanks again - RR.

Go with the OME kit from Lucky 8, the price is great, although you will still also need a steering stabilizer, but you won't need to replace it in the future.

Well the pot holes in the "D" are way bigger than any rock you will ever find here in MI.
If you are strapped for $$$ right ow then you can def go cheap like I did and then up grade later after they bulldoze the city and start over.

There is a "pay to play" site near Flint, but all the good real trails are up north, around *******, Grayling etc.
I am going to hit the "Tin Cup" on Sunday after church with a friend, he has never been wheeling before.
It is over here on the west side about 1.5 hours north of me.
It av fun and easy trail, lots of traffic so I hate that about it.

You can look up trails in your area.
EDIT:you do NOT need a ORV sticker for your truck to use the trails in MI, as long as you have a valid license plate on your truck you are good to go.
