Default Inline thermostat mod

Got the inline thermostat installed this week made by one of our members
very simple install under 1 hour
everything fits perfect and the engine is happy
max temp hits 188 than gradually drops to 177
holds steady at highway speeds at 180
im going to think this will also be a big benefit for keeping oil temperatures in good shape

I did the inline mod yesterday, but it will be a while before my truck is running to test it out. I'm doing a transfer case swap and fixing an A/C leak while I can't really drive anywhere anyway.

I did a 300 mile round trip today
70 mph on the highway
temperatures steady at 186-188
city driving and idling temperatures are 178-188
very happy with the way everything is working
maybe just in my head but it’s running smooth and engine sounds better
actually got 520 kilometres per tank

I had noticed that my mileage seemed to improve with the lower temps. I never checked, but perhaps the ignition timing is advanced slightly more at lower temps. Regardless, I regularly get 16-17mpg driving 70mph.

Redwhite, how did you find the cooling system bleeding process with the inline mod?

never had a problem now or before
just lift tank up as high as it goes and add coolant slowly and watch those bubbles pop
air always goes to the highest point

Been trying to get everything done before going back to work full time next week
picked up oem 18 rims mint for $150 had to get a old alternator fixed 130 amp Wilson I snapped the bolt , picked up a 9500 smittybilt xrc winch for 300 brand new
all and all it was a 5 hour adventure today got 540 km before light came on

coolant temperatures steady at idle 177-186
highway 183-188 touched 192 with the ac on

I’ll provide more reviews in the coming months
