Installing Hella's- which fuse
Just picked up a set of driving lights for my d2. I have a factory switch on the dash, but no factory fog lights (relay is missing as well) That being said I cannot figure out which fuse to use as a trigger. When I use the relay or 15amp fuse (in the fuse box) the lights stay on whenever the car is on. Doesn't matter if the lights are on or off. I am using the relay provided, I just need a trigger to turn them on/off
I know the driving lights will not turn on unless the high's are on and I could wire them in line with the high beams, but I would prefer to independently turn them off if I have the high beams on. I could just run the switch that Hella provided, but I want the OEM look.
cliffs: Pick up a set of hella lights, which fuse to run the factory switch.

I used a separate accessory/aftermarket fuse box for mine so I can turn the lights on even with the ignition off. Are you trying to wire it through the disco fuse/relay box?
#1 is power for the switch
#4 is wired to the relay position 86. When the switch is depressed power is sent to the relay, switching on the lights.

In order to keep ALL my accessories away from the precious built in electronics, I wired in this kit from Painless.
Part# 70207 Details | Painless Performance
Do it once, do it right, then anything else you want to add you won't have splices and inline taps and fuses hanging all over your truck

The point with the two diagrams.... Don't mess with your factory wiring... You can still use the factory switch...to keep the factory look
One thing about the factory fog switches (if they are D2 switches) is they are momentary on/off. In other words... you mash the switch, it sends a signal to the ECU to close the relay, which turns the lights on. It is not a on/off switch.... So if you want to go the route you are asking about, you will need to interact with the ECU.
You can use a on/off switch, like the factory D1 switch and achieve the look you are going for, without having to go through the ECU.
I put the model of switch in my diagram.
