Default instrument cluster lights ?'s

so i have a few ?'s

should the HDC light come on when HDC is engaged? light comes on at startup but not when HDC is engaged, i hear the chimes and it works but no light...

does the ABS light come on at startup? my ABS works but no light at startup.

reason i got into this was i bought an Amigo and pulled an ABS code off my truck for the front left sensor. but didnt have the amigos or any lights so i pulled the cluster apart to see if there were bulbs in there.

Yes the HDC light is supposed to come on when it is engaged.

Yes the ABS light is supposed to come on when you start the truck.

Illuminates briefly as a bulb and
system check when the starter
switch is turned to position 'II' and
also when HDC is selected.
If HDC is selected when Low Range gears are
engaged the light will illuminate continuously
indicating that HDC is active.
When HDC is selected and non-operating gears
are engaged (i.e. High range), the light will flash
to inform the driver that HDC is selected, but
will not operate.
If the light starts to flash while HDC is active,
normal functionality may cease and HDC ‘fade
out’ may be induced (see ‘HILL DESCENT
CONTROL’, page 131).

And there you have it pal!

regards,

ok... so HDC and the ABS along with many other "lights" are actually LED's on a circuit board. so unless you are into doing some circutry work a replacement is over $1,000 from the dealer or you can get one from a parted truck but then the computer will have to be re-hooked up because the mileage will be gone.

i checked the fuses they are all fine so im curious if anyone else on the forum has an early d2 that is starting to have problems with LED's burning out...

im open to suggestions as to what else might be going on with my panel, say if its not the LED's and not the fuses....

summary of all my problems

right hand directional doesnt work, ABS doesnt work, HDC only comes on at startup not when HDC is engaged (HDC works fine)

the electrical surge/fire/grounding fried my IP cluster so i bought 2 extra ones when i was at the junkyard..... a cluster form a 04 with broken glass and a 2000 that worked fine, but it didnt look like my 03 cluster. only 03-04 have the same looking cluster even though the 2000 worked fine .... i went withthe 04 and replaced the glass screen and i have the 2000 cluster as a extra for sale

it has 134k miles 50$
