Default Junkyard hit list... I need some help.

I just bought a Disco 2 and there is one in the local pick-n-pull. What are some things I should always be on the lookout for when at the junkyard? Hard to find parts, common failure parts, ect?

Look for a good cowl cover, those are pretty rare however. Door lock motors fail pretty regularly. If it's a facelift there's a market for good headlights, and front a rear bumper corner covers seem to be in demand. A working key fob has value, which along with the ignition, driver's door handle, cluster BCU and ECU make a nice package. Good place to practice removing A pillar covers. If you're up for a real challenge, greasable front driveshaft, locking transfer case, if equipped, and evidence that the steering box ISN'T leaking might make them good candidates, and of course any aftermarket steering and suspension components, off road gear, ladders, racks, etc. A new-ish radiator is a good find. I'm sure others will have a laundry list of parts as well.

A good front windshield cowl is gold.

Always pull a front or rear bumper with no cracks

Front seat bottoms are interchangeable, many times the passenger side may be good so grab it.

Any of the rain gutter trim

03-04 tail lights

If the drivers side interior door panel is good grab it

Check interior grab handles that attach to the head liner to see if they are in better shape than yours

All the above and Rubber floor mats. Grab ‘em!
Also the MAF element and SAI pump and the hose that connects to it. You can resell them for 3x the price you paid for them.

Anytime you find a LR at a yard, get it all. Especially if it’s a D1 or 2 with good parts.

Just scored an AB rear steel bumper for D2 at pick and pull in Fairfield, CA. It was the only thing in decent shape on the whole truck. $40.

There hasn't been even a single DII at LKQ here for months.

Just picked up a full length cargo mat ($270 new), and a near perfect windshield cowl at the LKQ yesterday. Paid $30 total. I was originally going to see if I could grab the bumpers and brush guard, but someone beat me to them. Lots of good parts on that vehicle, but I never know what to grab. I may go back to grab some of the interior cargo trim pieces if I have time.

FYI: create an account on LKQ so you can get email notifications when a Disco arrives in the yard. And get there ASAFP before the vultures pick it clean.
