get the codes that set off the check engine light and let us know what they were. Some are easy, we just had the light come on due to a gas cap that wasn't on tight. It can also indicate a major problem. The codes will help figure out which problem it is. The shop that did the ppi shop have noted the codes. Keep looking, there are many good trucks available, now that oil is over $100 a barrell, there just might be a few more. Good luck. Phil

Sounds too expensive. Without any service history, you have to assume the worst.

My 2001 with 128,000 miles is quite nice, but came with no history. Discovered leaky head gaskets, but I'll come out just fine since I paid $2000 for it. I'll probably have another $1000 or so in parts when I'm done, but she'll be a well sorted machine.
