Default Keyless Install

Ok, I have searched, and searched, not only here but all over, and I cannot find what I am looking for. I am trying to install an Audiovox AA925 because my factory remote is not communicating with the truck and this was a much cheaper option. I need to know how to wire the system to lock and unlock the doors. The instructions say "most imports" but I have a feeling that a Landy is not like "most imports".

on an 2000 it is the yellow/pink wire inside the drivers kick panel controls the door lock & the blue/green wire works the secuirty system that one is located at the security module, but I'm not sure on a 2002.
I'm doing the same thing I was able to buy an remote starter/lock system for $40.00 on line that came with 2 remotes.
I'll be dammed if i'm going to pay a dealer 100 something dollars for a key/door remote. I just havent had the time or wheather to install it yet, let me know how you make out.

I will keep you updated. I am thinking that I am just going to use the switch on the dash. Others have said this is the eaisest and I really don't feel the need for always having the alarm. If I need the alarm I can just lock the door with the key (old school!)

According to what i can tell the door locks that the same sign to lock and unlock.
there is no lock or unlock wire they are both the same wire, so you should able to use just the one yellow/pink wire.
My only question is does the alarm set it's self after a certain amount of time?
Some of my vehicles do and some dont, I havent had the disco long enough to know, plus I always use the key.
On the ones that set themselves I have to shut the alarm off before I unluck the door or the alarm will go off. Thats were the security wire comes in to play, but only if the system arms it's self.

I dont think it self arms, but I am not sure. I have only had mine for about 2 months now, and it isn't my daily driver. Maybe someone can tell us.

So I got the unit installed last night with the help of my "nerd". (He is a really smart friend who is a great with tech and mechanical stuff, not to mention his skills with the soldering gun! He ran the Amigos out of my truck a month or so ago!) We used the central door lock, it doesn’t activate the alarm but my intention was to make the install as easy as possible and I am a very simple guy, I didn’t even hook it up to the horn and the lights.

So I looked at some of the other threads and mine can’t hang so I am just going to drop it here.

I installed an Audiovox AA-925 I bought from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Audiovox-AA925.../dp/B000KBAC1G under $30 delivered. It can, with the right extra parts, start the vehicle and activate the factory alarm. This is a great little unit for the price.

All I did was hook it to the central lock switch. Three wires from the main unit, CONSTANT POWER (red), SWITCHED POWER (yellow), and GROUND (black) were all I used. There are several others, parking lights, horn, and all the stuff for the anti theft (you shouldn’t need this if you tap into the factory alarm using the door lock wire in the drivers kick panel, the yellow/pink) I connected the green wire form the unit to the yellow wire on the central lock switch and the red wire from the unit went to the switch’s yellow/red wire. But this is where having my smart friend helped. You need to put a diode on each of the central lock switch wires and then install the unit’s green and red wires behind the diodes. I don’t get flashing lights and a horn honk to tell me the truck locked or unlocked, but that is by choice. The range claims to be 100 feet, if you are that close to a Disco that is locking or unlocking you can HEAR the locks! All the confirmation I need.

I highly recommend soldiering all the connections and using heat shrink raps. It looks clean and professional not to mention these trucks are made to be used in extreme conditions, any modifications we make should keep this in mind.

I know this write up isn’t great, but if you have any questions, let me know.
