Default License Plate Storage Box

I've got a lot of stuff to store, but my Disco 2 has a big area that is only used for the license plate.

Hmmm...

I mean, why not mount the license plate to a storage box so that I've got a place for my tow rope?

I would have put the lock on the bottom because I would be concerned it will fill with water and grit. However, awesome mod

Seems pretty harmless.

For me, this mod makes sense for my Disco 2, but I've got an old Jeep CJ-5 in my barn that I can do this to, as well.

I wonder if that crowd would eat up this idea?

Cool idea and with a box smaller than the plate would be a great stealth storage spot that most people wouldn't even notice.

Yep, this will cause you to fail inspection in my state (and will probably get you pulled over as well)

Yeah, Maryland law says your rear plate has to be sufficiently lit to be legible at 50 feet in the dark. This probably won't do that.

I like the idea, but I see it filling with water, and blocking the license plate lights, and cargo handle (people with large hands).

If it was me I’d just install an aluminum panel on the inside of the cargo door & go crazy with mounting stuff from camping supplies, fire extinguishers, axes, tools, or tow straps. The world is your oyster basically with an aluminum door panel on the cargo door.
