Default looking for a M/T tire 285/75r16 that is a 33

Tire manufacturers are all over the place with true dimensions. I have toyo open country currently. They are 31.5 inches tall and 9.5 inches wide.
It seems most (that I have measured) are at least an inch less than 33's.
Has anyone found a good M/T tire that is a 285 and actually a 33?
My dif guard will thank you

Nope. None that I've seen will actually measure at 33 or higher. That said your diff guard isn't going to see a noticeable gain in height going to a 285/75 and pending suspension and wheels may require trimming

So... 285 mm x 0.75 = 213.75 mm 213.75 x 2 = 427.5 mm (16.83")
16.83" + 16" = 32.83"

Here's a chart with some common (theoretical) sizes and their effect on gearing for daydreaming purposes.

As Greg says, 32.8” is what 285 calculates to.

Also BF goodrich measures even smaller than their advertised diameters. I'm not a fan of the KO2s, however the KM3 is a pretty good tire.

305/70 and 255/85 will get you a marginally taller tire than the 285/75. And there are MTs available in those sizes.

I have limited real world experience with MTs, but I do a lot of AT tire buying . Visually, I will say that there appears to be much more than 1.5cm (implied) difference in diameter between 295/75-16 and 285/75-16. I have both sizes on lifted FZJ80s, And without using a tape measure, I say the 295s are more like a 1.0-1.25":taller.

totally get that but all the 285's I have measured are less than that. So how about a 285 M/T that is 32.8 inches?

Wheel offset is the next issue that you still may need some trimming for certain scenarios. Shouldn't be an issue if you don't wheel it too hard or load it down. I have a set of grabber x3s in 285 on my white d2 and love them, did not measure them when I got them however. Held up great to regular abuse and a loaded down truck. I think duratracs run larger than advertised.....but then you're running duratracs lol. If you go back a little bit in the "What have you done today" thread you'll see my white disco on 285s and my classic on 315/75/16 for comparison. IMO I think the 285 is the perfect width and would kill for a 35x10.5x16 tire option.
