Looking for a roof expedition rack for my disco 2
#3
Voyager.
Made in USA. High Quality. Fair price. 3 models of D2 racks to choose from. Quality packing for international freight. Easy to install alone. Voyager racks are better than Safety Devices racks.
Emailed some charmer back in the day who may have paid $2,500 for his Safety Devices rack... and turned down my offer of $1,000 for his used SS roof rack. I got the Voyager contractor edition for $900 new. Very satisfied. Was always told the SS rack was better. Later compared to another Rover with an SS rack - IMHO was not as good as Voyager.

So it looks like you’ll be selling it with the car then .. for $0.00.

I read the message.
And I think you must be confused.
This is an original SAFETY DEVICES Safari rack. They were a $2500 option.
A newly-made copy is $1800 plus freight.
Not remotely interested in $1000 including shipping.
Make a serious offer and I may consider it.

Did you read the message I sent or just the first 4 words ? I’m offering you a grand for the roof rack. Not the car. The roof rack.

@OttawaLandRover Check the UK sites shipping is better and faster than any of the US vendor, not their fault but they use Fedex and UPS and they price gouge terribly to Canada. There is pretty much nothing in Canada, Discovery accessories are getting hard to find on top of that

I’ll chime in here.. I went with an original SD rack after looking at all options.
The Voyager racks are much heavier than the Safety Devices racks.
Voyager rack my friend has rusted after one winter.
Mounting system on the roof rails for SD is superior.
Voyager wouldn’t return my repeated emails or phone calls last summer and it was unclear from their site whether or not the sunroofs remain operational with the different options. - perhaps they are better now about specifics?. I even messaged the CEO/Pres on LinkedIn and he never replied.
Also - going rate for a used SD rack is higher than 1k unless someone doesn’t know what they have. Figure 1200-1600 for used.

They are heavier because they are stronger. 1000 LB displacement before bending. Sunroofs remain operational. SD sunroofs do not. The going rate for a used rack is around $500 IMHO. Used means a used price. Otherwise why buy used? I bought ARB bumper new because used ones for D 1 ans 2s never come on the market .. so the seller wanted almost a brand new price... and wanted me to pick up or pay for shipping. Kept saying Australia would take months ...so I better get his. Got it from Atlantic British new in 2 weeks with free shipping.
Sorry but $2,500.00 roof rack option or $1,800 new is called getting had. Because the only thing better on the SD rack is the mounting system ...which is pretty much the same as the Voayger.... yet... it can't handle as much weight as Voyager. SD are also made in Poland. Longer wait if they don't have it in stock.
He didn't return your calls because he is too busy with manufacturing and running his office.
