Sorry about the spelling I am on a mobile ...tiny screen and hiding at work.
Thanks for the tips I can rebuild a engine well. How would I know if I need to do the head gaskets. Other than smell at the tailpipe on the test drive? Any ideally on cost? As this is all the money I have saved up 3900$ I need this thing for trips across 400 miles several times a year in blizzard and all other weather for medical trips. Am I kidding myself on buying this should I just buy a suburban? I was hoping to have it be a offload vehical and grocery getter when not on trips

It's hit and miss... If you have time and mechanical skills then lack of money is not a problem.
The important part is to know what you are buying. get the maintenance records, have it checked out by an independent LR specialist... not a dealer or a "foreign car repair" shop.
Read the sticky at the top of this section on what to look for.
And for your wheelchair passenger, can they get out of the wheelchair and into the car or do you plan on having them ride in their wheelchair? the latter would be difficult in a Disco. Actually the disco is tall. even my 80 year old dad has a hard time getting into mine. A handicapped person might need lifted into the cab.

I read all the stickies everything seems simple enough. I've carfaxed the vehical it was a fleet commercial registration. Not many records can be found. I have restored old vehicals from the ground up and have a well equipped shop. Frankly though I am kind of scared of geting stuck with a lemon. My nearest dealer is 375the miles away where my girls neurosurgeon is in denver. I know I will have to lift her in as she is paralyzed from mid belly down. I wanted the height and visibility to take her exploring in the woods as well
