Loosing coolant again???
Hello Disco owners
I have 2002 Disc.11 . I had a mechanic replace head gaskets, hoses, cap & thermostat at 85,000 miles. at 93,000 the mechanic changed the water-pump and thoroughly flushed the radiator. The truck now has 122,000 miles. But it was never right, I've taken it back to the mechanic numerous times to have the system bled and top-offed.. Now the car is making that loud swooshing sound again inside and when my wife comes home from work { about 2-1/2 miles } there is a puddle of coolant in the drive and I have to add about 1/2 a gallon. Fed up I took it to another Mechanic with Landrover experience He diagnosed a head gasket again but with no guarantee because a possible slipped sleeve. Does this sound correct and what is the chance of a slipped sleeve?

If the job was not done right the first time it very well could be just head gaskets.
It could be a slipped liner but the only way to know for sure is to remove the oil pan and look for a liner that has moved.
Time to do some research.

Brandon if, as Spike has mentioned, the head gaskets were done right, this should not be happening now or since then.
You should, if the mechanic is not sure, do a coolant pressure test, to verify the exact scourse of the leak. That being dais, yes it could be a sleeve and you won't know till the heads are pulled.
If you have any questions, PM me your number and I'll call you.

If there's a puddle of coolant beneath the vehicle, you need to find out where the leak is coming from. A dropped sleeve would cause it to leak into the crankcase, not on the ground. As Mike mentioned, do a pressure test. A common leak point is the throttle body heater plate, but check everything.
