Default Lower manifold gasket sealant?

I need to find sealant for my lower manifold gasket (part number STC 50550) any idea what the name brand of this stuff is so I can buy it at autozone?

Also it says to apply sealant to cylinder head and cylinder block notches. Does this just mean I need to put a straight bead at each end or do I need to go around the whole gasket?

The Felpro gasket comes with a tube of sealant and the rubber end seals. If that's not what you bought, it's just black RTV, and goes in the end notches. I also put it around the coolant port openings.

OK does it have to be the black or can it be the clear silicone?

That I don't know. I used what came with the gasket.

OK just to be clear by end notches you are taking where the inside corners of the cylinder heads meet with the engine block (at the top of the "valleys" at each end where there is a little notch at the head gaskets)? I'm not sure if I'm explaining it correctly but as I recall there was sealant there so that is probably it

Go to the auto parts store and buy one of their better tubes of gasket sealant.

NO - no clear silicone there! Get proper gasket goo. Clear silicone doesn't handle temperature well. There are ranges of goo for different temps. Get the proper one or your sealant won't lase very long.

Glad you got it done. I was going to post the manual illustration this morning where the sealant goes, but the board was having issues.

Sorry to dig up an old thread (Google is an awesome tool), but Tom, can you post your illustration?

In preparation for "Operation Big Leak", I am reading the RAVE over and over for Rocker Cover, Intake Plenum, and Inlet Manifold gasket replacement. I see I need this sealant, and Right-Stuff, seems to be the right stuff. Just not clear from the RAVE on where to put it. Picture, drawing, anything would be great.

RAVE just says: " 4. Applysealant,PartNo.STC50550 to cylinder
head and notches in cylinder block" and "6. Applysealant,PartNo.STC50550 to gasket
seals above the notches in the cylinder block."

Thanks.
