Anyone happen to know the specs -- size, length, thread pitch/count --- for the three studs they recommend you use when de-mating the transfer case from the transmission?
My brother's got a South Bend lathe and offered to make them for me.

you can get the thread size off one of the mounting bolts. And you can get a generic stainless stud set off amazon or where-ever and cut to required length.... I only used ONE...one 'long' one as using three is more difficult to align from under vehicle....once you get the output shaft seated well enough, you can rotate the housing a bit to line up the one stud...
I will see if I can find the studs I made when I get home.....maybe m10x1.25 thread...i'll check...
you don;t really need them for separation, but you do need them for replacing the T box, otherwise you screw up your seal..
Why are you removing the T box?

I saw on your thread from a couple of years ago that it might be M10 1.5, not 1.25.
Wanna get it right as once I get out to my buddies ranch with the lift, the nearest store with metric bolts is at least 50 miles.
And what do you think of using a 6"x6" piece of post cut diagonally (32 degrees give of take) in lieu of the metal platform the RAV suggests to balance the case while dropping it -- also secured to the transmission list with a couple of straps? Will that work or am I courting disaster?

yea...it's m10x1.5 ( I was guessing above over lunch break..lol)
......you can get studs or bolts like 150mm long with smooth shaft, and trim down to size as needed and round the ends on a grinder.......I trimmed the threads off one end and rounded it, and then also trimmed some of the threads off the threaded end too, so that I did not have to thread the bolt into trans all the way up to the smooth shaft....
Pretty straight forward...
the biggest help will be the jack....
So why are you removing the T case? I would say if you are just replacing seals, no biggie. But if you are taking apart the torqued layshaft bolt , be careful......Also, read my thread about using sealant vs supplied green gaskets in rebuild kits....The gaskets in certain locations will affect shimming/torque specs....
