Default M&S lights flashing, then limp mode, then dead

Hello,

About two weeks ago my D2's M&S lights started flashing on the dash. A day or two later they were still flashing, and the truck went in to limp mode.

I went out of town for a week, and when I came back the truck wouldn't turn over at all. Just clicked like the batter was dead.

New battery was purchased in April. No loose cables, everything looks clean. Was putting out 13.8-14+ volts on the ultraguage.

Current trouble codes: P0150, P0174, P1174

Any ideas as to where I should start looking first?

Thank you!
Nathan

As far as I could recall M+S in my disco was related to the transmission switch or just a loose battery terminal. The rest of the codes are O2 related. Once replaced could correct problem if not something about injectors. Smell Gas?

I had my head gaskets replaced in April. Since then there has been a faint smell of gas.

The head gasket kit comes with O rings for the injectors. Im doing it right now since im doing the HG. I hope you replaced yours. A bit of work just to get in there.

I had a LR shop do the HG job. Not 100% sure if they replaced the O rings.

Start with the O2 Sensor first. If I can recall correctly, mine runs smooth and sometimes gets rough when idle. I have been using Bosch sensors but they fail plenty times. Not the best in my opinion. I wasted too much time installing and removing them and sending them back. The one set I got from Atlantic British long long time ago never had problems for many years and its not Bosch. Looked very generic sensors.

FWIW I had this same issue. I even got a new transmission over it. Then the problem returned.

It was the battery.

Seconded on battery. And/or battery terminals, ground cable. Clean the terminals and ground locations thoroughly. Make sure there's no rust or dirt preventing a good ground.

Alright, so finally getting around to addressing this. I attempted to start the truck and it was completely dead. After cleaning the terminals (pretty clean to begin with), I let it sit hooked up to my daily driver for 20-30 minutes. After a few tries, it finally turned over.

Still in limp mode, so I only drove around the block a few times. Ultragauge showed 14.53v.

The next day I went to drive it to my indy LR shop and it was completely dead again.

Any ideas?

Have the battery load-tested for free at any auto parts store. Even if it shows a decent voltage for a short time it might have lost a cell and not be holding a charge.
