Default M&S lights on and Limp mode. New Battery Now What

Been fighting this for about a week. Put a new battery in today, it immediately comes on as soon as I put it in gear.

Brand new Optima Yellow top put in, stayed off for about 3 cranks, then started coming back on.

Alternator, replace it about 2 years or maybe less ago. I checked all obvious ground points.

What's next

12.5v at Battery with the truck off
13.9-14.0v at Battery with truck running.

So I don't think it is a alternator.

Code I am getting is P0705

Make absolutely sure your terminals are spotless. Then with that marked off the list XYZ switch adjustment, and finally XYZ cleaning/replacement.

P0705 is the XYZ switch. So often people who haven't had the codes read jump to that conclusion and throw money at the XYZ without really knowing. In this case it seems it may actually be the problem. That said, do as Best4x4 says and make certain the battery terminals and clamps are clean and tight.

Are you seeing any other XYZ symptoms? Do the PRND321 indicators on the shifter surround and in the the instrument pack next to the odometer display correctly in all shifter positions?

There is a tiny bit of adjustment to the switch & before I’d buy a new one I’d certainly try that. I’ve tinkered with 3 D2’s recently with flashing M&S lights. One was battery terminals that looked okay until you looked at the inside & they were not very secure on the battery, second was the XYZ switch adjustment (seems more sensitive with the newer black style in my personal experience). Then the 3rd was actually a bad transmission module under the drivers seat. Some real brains decided to rip out the OEM amp, cut all the wiring to it, and then drill 4 holes into the plate the AMP/Transmission ECU share which isn’t a big deal unless you drill straight into the ECU...... swapped it out and magically no more issues. Told that guy to go back to that stereo shop and get his $$$$ back.

So I went thru the gears, and at first, as soon as I changed from Park to R, nothing displayed. Went back to Park and saw the P, then switched back to R and after about 3 seconds a R showed up. Did it again, and then the R immediately showed up. Kind of did the same thing with N and D. I cannot get a 3 2 or 1 to show up. Just stays with D.

not sure about doing "adjustments", what would I do for adjusting it.

Also, once I get it a part, do I just clean all the copper contacts, lift up the copper contacts, and smear vasaline on every thing, RTV the case and rivet together?

Also, What type of rivets are you using to put it back together?
