Default Misfires on 2001 Disco II

My disco is showing codes for a misfire in cylinder 5 and the P0300 for multiple/random misfires. Is there anyway to pinpoint this problem. I am ordering new plugs and wires b/c they look old and I do not know if they have ever been replaced (I have only owned it for 2 months). Is this most likely a wire problem or should I be concerned with the coil or MAF? The multiple misfire code is throwing me off and I would like to order anything else I need at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many miles on the truck, what octane gas are you using and what brand of plugs and wires have you ordered?

42,000mi on the disco. I was searching the the forum for insight on the plugs and wires, looks like the magnecore wires, 8mm. I haven't decided on the plugs, any suggestions? The sad part of this is that in less than three weeks I am starting an apprenticeship at a LR dealership and I will get a discount. After reading the forum, it sounds like there might be some better parts than what I could get there though. Thanks

oh yeah, I always put 92 or 93 octane in, but never a specific brand.

Well, you may get a discount, but Magnacor wires are far better then the factory wire ever were.
Some people swear Champion plugs are the only way to go, specifically the plugs sold by the dealer, but I believe the Bosch Platium Plus 4's are better and less money.
Your coil isn't causing this problem nor is the MAF, by the way, don't try to clean the MAF or you will be buying a new one.

The version I have heard is we come into this world as a baby in the fetal position and leave about the same way.

Also, it ran like crap from the second I started it up this time, it wasn't doing that before. I would reach operating temp before it would misfire.
